Gabrick's Virtual Food Drive

Since the onset of the pandemic nearly a year ago now, the need for emergency food continues at historically high levels with no sign of decreasing. Lost jobs and wages, reduced access to free meals for kids, fear of shopping because of health concerns, and the loss of support networks all contribute to the increased need.

Today, one in eight Minnesotans are hungry, compared to one in eleven in 2019. Our BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Color) community has been disproportionately impacted as well as seniors and kids with increased barriers to food access. The Food Group has been distributing almost double the amount of food in the past few months. We are currently distributing to a network of more than 250 food shelf and meal program partners reaching 30 counties in MN and Western WI.

Donate to Gabrick's Food Drive and your dollars will be used for immediate relief in our community. Your support helps The Food Group get more food out to our network of 250 food shelf partners as quickly as possible.

There are two easy and convenient ways to donate. Make a monetary donation online, or provide a donation of food items. Here are some of the most requested items from our food shelf partners-

  • canned vegetables (low-sodium veggies, pasta sauces, salsa)
  • dairy products (powdered and shelf-stable milk, rice, soy and almond milk)
  • cooking oils (olive, canola, vegetable, coconut oils)
  • poultry/fish/beans (canned salmon, tuna or chicken, canned and dried beans, low-sodium broth or bean soups)
  • grains (brown or wild rice, whole-grain pastas, granola bars, rice and bean thread noodles, gluten-free options)

Your compassion for your neighbors speaks volumes as we all experience heightened stress around the COVID-19 pandemic. Food shelves are in an unprecedented situation, seeing the need for emergency food escalating, and determining how to respond quickly and effectively.

Thank you for providing nutritious, culturally connected foods to our food shelf and meal program partners!
