Family Values for Life (FVFL) helps families chart a path from crisis to stability through wraparound support that empowers individuals to overcome physical, emotional, mental, and financial obstacles to holistic well-being. FVFL’s integrated programs include skill-building workshops for single moms, after-school family meals and homework help, mentoring, summer basketball and arts camps for youth, and others. The long-term impact of our work is that families are healthier, better equipped to handle stress and relationships, more connected to social supports and community resources, and more financially stable.   Together we build capacities for families to network and leverage resources within their community. Strong healthy families cultivate secure communities.

Current programs include:

--Jump Start to the New You (core program) - provides transformative and holistic family support through a yearlong series of weekly workshops designed to help single mothers build skills and access resources to overcome specific barriers facing low-income families.

--Bridges out of Poverty - 12-week summer course, in partnership with Community Action Partnership. Bridges out of Poverty offers best practices, ideas, and concrete tools to support those who are moving out of poverty.

--U-Turn 180 Youth Program - family meals, homework help, recreation, and creative arts workshops weekly during the school year - serving 80 preK-12th grade youth annually.

--U-Turn Summer Programs -  Hero training camp and overnight camps in partnership with First Covenant Church of St. Paul.

--Reading Academy - before/after school and NEW summer reading support for students behind grade level in reading. Reaching 70 youth during the school year and 30 youth for six weeks in summer.

--Back to School - annual event provides backpacks with school supplies and connects families to community resources and Saint Paul schools - reaching 3,000 children and 900 families annually.

--Beauty for Ashes - grief and trauma counseling and support

Family Values for Life is truly community-based: started within the community, for the community, and sustained by the community, primarily by volunteers. We work with 50+ community partners. We have a whole-family, whole-person approach that has grown grassroots-style from the beginning.
