The Kinship of Morrison County youth mentoring mentoring program is all about relationships. We are all about bringing a compassionate, consistent role model & friend into the life of a young person. Lydia (above right) is just one of those mentors. She is shown with her Kinkid Zariah and the artwork they enjoyed making together.
Kinship relationship grow through conversations, through time & experiences shared and grow into a friendship that can be counted on. Our close to 30 matches would attest to the the impact a mentor can make in the life of a child!
These past few weeks have been challenging for us all. For Kinship, the shutdown has put the brakes on a great 2020. We had begun the year bringing seven new friendships together, hosting four group activities & a hosting a successful fish fry. This was on top of the time our matches spent together sharing everyday adventures together!
This shutdown has led Kinship to cancel a food stand fundraiser, postpone our annual Soup & Chili Cook-off to October 13th and also to put the brakes on group mentoring activities. What is hasn't done is to sever relationships. Our matches are encouraged to stay connected, to improvise what "get-togethers" look like, but to stay in relationship!
Your donation will help Kinship keep our friendships rolling, and to replace the fundraising funds that were either eliminator or at least delayed. Beyond that we are competing for a $3000 matching grant from the Initiative Foundation (located in Little Falls) which will be awarded to the first to reach $3000 in donations.
Please give generously and considered stepping into the shoes of Kinship mentor!
