I began racing bikes about 3.5 years ago after moving to Minneapolis, MN from upstate NY.  I am a former marathon runner and triathlete who fell in love with endurance sports as a graduate student. The highs and lows that come with training and racing help me approach life challenges from a different perspective. Bike racing has undoubtedly made me a better person. However, bike racing is also a predominantly white and male sport. There are several barriers to entry, including a lack of accessibility due to costs, difficulty finding mentorship and information need to get started, and a tight-knit community that can be seen as intimidating or exclusive for those who are new.

To sustain the sport of cycling, we need to create a home for those who haven't historically been seen, heard, or actively supported in the cycling community. Stamina Racing Collective emerged this summer in order to create that home. We are a group of riders working toward one common objective: a more diverse peloton.  We are bold, we are committed, we are passionate, we are fiercely supportive of one another, and we are here to change the narrative of cycling

Who we are:

  • 89% of our riders are brand new to racing
  • 78% of our riders are BIPOC and/or Latinx
  • 67% are immigrants or first-generation immigrants
  • 67% of us are members of the LGBTQ+ community

My dream is that we have an unforgettable 2021. My bigger dream is that we are all still racing in 2026, and 2031, and beyond, to support and mentor a more diverse generation of cyclists in years to come.

Our team is participating in Minnesota's Give to the Max Day to support the start-up costs of our non-profit, as well as the costs of our 2021 racing season. In addition to racing, our team will be hosting events and clinics for Black Indigenous People of Color (BIPOC), LGBTQ+, and Femme/Trans/Women (FTW) cyclists in the Minneapolis area. The funds that we raise this month will go straight to our riders, the team's administrative costs, and our community development efforts to get more people on bikes here in Minnesota. If we exceed our goal, funds will be set aside to support our 2022 racing season, as well as provide more opportunities for community development here in the Twin Cities.

This team is the best thing that happened to me in 2020. The energy, drive, and intellect behind each and every one of my teammates is contagious. Thank you in advance for supporting our mission.
