Dancer with John

Our beautiful Dancer is retiring.
Who can fill his shoes?

A good therapy horse is equal parts training and temperament with a generous dusting of magic.  Finding horses that will partner in our therapy work is no easy task.  In some lucky cases these animals find us before we find them. This is the story with Dancer, a Missouri Fox Trotter gelding donated to us by our dear friend John Warren in 2014. At 26 Dancer is the most senior member of our herd and has finally agreed that he is ready to retire. He stepped into this work with energy and reverence.  He astounded us with his powerful stride, steady work ethic and giant heart.  Always the first to lift his head and connect with a human experience of grief. Always standing quietly when a wheelchair moved in close for a connection. Always ready to receive a good rub or the gentle press of a child’s hand.

In honor of his good work, please donate and share your retirement wishes for him in the comments below. Your donation will help us welcome in the next member of our therapy herd -- and they will have big shoes to fill indeed.
