Hold Your Horses: a place of peace & healing
Hold Your Horses is non-profit dedicated to moving lives forward from trauma and disability with the help of a horse and the natural world. Our professional and compassionate staff are trained to support individuals on their healing journey by providing occupational therapy, mental health services, combined programming through community partners (like Hennepin County and Nawayee Center School), and restoration and wellness workshops in a peaceful farm setting. Sign-up for our newsletter, follow us on social media, and visit our website for more information about our services and programs, staff, property, and of course, animal partners!

What's new at the farm: growing roots
Hold Your Horses is growing strong roots from our organic foundation 16 years ago. Thanks to generous donations, our team has blossomed in the last year. We created two new positions, including an Operations Director and Clinic Manager, hired a new mental health therapist and occupational therapist, and expanded hours of our loyal staff to meet growing demand for healing services at the farm. We also welcomed two mini-donkeys and one horse, created new property trails spotted with sitting areas, transitioned to an electronic health records system, replaced our leaky roof, and hosted a trauma workshop with Linda Kohanov, the PATH, Intl. Region 6 Conference, and Vista Caballo with Reconnect Rondo.
What's the future of the farm: growing branches
As our roots grow deeper, we enjoy sprawling across the full 69 acres of property for client sessions, group programming, horse conditioning, and team meetings. But come winter and/or inclement weather, our team is forced into a dance across shared spaces to meet the needs of our clients, animals, and daily operations. We now have 12 employees sharing three office spaces, our lunch room doubles as a conference room, our client waiting room also serves as an OT gym, the barn aisle is carefully navigated for client session and horse care, and our indoor arena is both a treatment space, classroom and horse conditioning ring. Planning is underway to reimagine a future property and facility that meets our growing team and community need for services. Stay tuned!
What's needed for intentional growth: you!
Hold Your Horses is committed to intentional organizational growth as much client-centered and trauma-informed care. You can help stay the course by making a one-time or monthly donation, signing up to volunteer for barn chores, sharing our newsletters and social media, talking to friends about our mission, and visiting us at the farm!
Your donations directly support animal care and conditioning, property management and restoration, reduced price therapy services with a generous sliding fee option, and the future expansion of healing programs and services.
Hold Your Horses is open year round. Visitors welcome by appointment.
