New Directions for DanceCo

Dear Friend of DanceCo,

Thanks to your support, DanceCo had a great 2025! Our premiere of Karla Nweje’s “The People I See are a Part of Me” was a great success. Audiences really enjoyed the percussive movement of Karla’s choreography and the interactive elements that are a hallmark of our family-friendly productions. 

We are in the early stages of planning for our 2026 season and are already in the studio working on new material! We’ve tasked three very talented dancers in the community—Emily Pitts, Liv Thornton and Emily Trapnell. These dancers have been affected by the recent sunsetting of Minnesota Dance Theater and James Sewell Ballet reducing the performing opportunities available to them. Matthew saw a chance to work with these dancers to create some new material that challenged both his choreographic vision and provided these amazing dancers a project to keep their skills sharp.
