Help Courtney Raise $500 for Wildflyer Coffee!

When I worked in the Minneapolis Central Library in Downtown Minneapolis between 2015 and early 2020, I worked with library staff to help offer "Coffee and Conversations," a program that provided free coffee to patrons, especially those experiencing homelessness, once a month. What I saw was that a simple cup of coffee could open an entire doorway to friendship, connection, empathy, and a moment of respite.

Those small moments of connection are why I joined the board of Wildflyer Coffee this year. Wilder Foundation reports that 32% of individuals experiencing homelessness in MN are youth ages 17 and under living with their parents. In fact about 6,000 youth ages 16-24 are experiencing homelessness every day. This is not ok. This is not the Minnesota that you or I envision. But we can do something to change this.

That's why I'm asking you to join me with your most generous donation to Wildflyer Coffee. Wildflyer Coffee is a nonprofit that hires and trains youth experiencing homelessness throughout the Twin Cities, giving them the tools and skills they need to build the future they deserve. 

Youth report the biggest barrier they face when coming out of homelessness is a lack of stable employment. Wildflyer Coffee exists to eliminate that barrier through a 6-month work and life skills training program that equips youth to live a stable and fulfilling life.
