The Corcoran Neighborhood is great place to live, work, play, and make great friends! CNO aides the neighborhood organization and we help everyone from the babies to the most experienced people in our neighborhood! We host employment workshops, financial literacy, homeownership sessions and other cool events. We are currently supporting our neighbors who are fight to gain ownership over their apartments and transition them to a renter own and run cooperative. Now most people know about our super cool market which has been around for the decade. In the time of COVID 19 we find ourselves with so many additional expenses to keep our programs operating like the one you will read about below. If you find in your heart please consider giving to us, stay safe and be well!
The Midtown Farmers Market is a project of the Corcoran Neighborhood Organization. Your contribution to this project goes directly to the Midtown Farmers Market! Created by a group of neighbors with a vision in 2003, the Midtown Farmers Market is a community-based market devoted to ensuring equitable access to healthy, locally-produced food and providing for the long-term viability of our foodshed.
The Midtown Farmers Market is now located at Moon Palace Books on E Lake St and Minnehaha Ave while housing development takes place at its original site in the Corcoran Neighborhood at the landmark intersection of E Lake St and Hiawatha Ave. We look forward to moving back! But we need your help during this transition.
As a community-supported nonprofit market, vendor fees cover less than 1/3 of the costs of making the market happen. We rely on supporters like you to sustain and grow our SNAP/EBT program, culturally relevant special events and activities, local entertainment, access to restrooms, places to sit, our zero waste initiative, and all of the little details that make the market a welcoming, inclusive and fun place to shop, eat, and gather.
The market transforms an otherwise empty urban lot into a vibrant community gathering space and marketplace twice a week for six months out of the year. Each season, a diverse community of over 50,000 market-goers gathers to celebrate our local bounty with live entertainment, fitness classes, arts activities, fresh fruits and vegetables, artisan crafts, and ready-to-eat food from over 75 local family farms and small businesses.
When you support the Midtown Farmers Market, you're supporting local farmers, sustainable agriculture, small business owners and healthy communities--you're helping to create the kind of community we all want to live in.
