Safe Hands Rescue is hosting their Virtual Fur Ball Gala for the second year in a row, and I'm raising funds on their behalf. If you know me, you know I love dogs and want to save them all! Our goal is to raise $100,000 for the renovation of the barn at The Safe House in Kentucky into an animal holding ward with safe, clean kennel runs where dogs and cats can get the medical attention, and food they desperately need before making the long trip up north. If just 100 volunteers each raise $1,000, we'll hit our goal!
I first started volunteering with Safe Hands back in October 2019. I jumped right in with cleaning kennels at the local car wash, assisting at intake with all the new arrivals, and helping pups find new homes at events such as Meet and Greets. I was participating in any event I could and then Covid hit. This put a screeching halt to all in-person events, including the 2020 Fur Ball Gala, which Safe Hands relies on for the majority of their annual donations. I want to do my part to help them recoup some of their losses and get The Safe House up and running. Since it's located on site near the Kentucky shelters, it will serve as a holding place until the sick animals are well enough to make the drive to Minnesota and begin their journey to a new furever home.
Dogs like Alfie are the reason why I'm fundraising this year, and why I know this project will save lives.
Alfie came to us malnourished, weak, and very sick. He was born as part of an unwanted litter and was deprived of medication he desperately needed to be healthy...he’d also suffered a head injury that led to him losing an eye.
When he and the rest of his litter came to Safe Hands, Alfie was already in need of critical medical care. He was hospitalized and fighting for his life at just 2 weeks old. But, this little guy has a remarkable spirit. Slowly he got strong enough to leave the hospital and go back to his foster home.
Soon he was learning to play, showing off his sweet, goofy personality, and making his foster mom laugh every day. Alfie was adopted by his forever family in September.
Safe Hands Rescue gives homeless pets a second chance to have a great life. If you have a companion animal, you know that we don’t just rescue them…they rescue us too. They bring happiness, make us laugh and give us comfort. We give them the best days of their lives and in return they give us the best days of ours.
That’s why I’m participating in the Safe Hands Virtual Fur Ball, and why I’m inviting you to join me in donating to the cause. There are so many more companion animals like Alfie, who want to be saved. In challenging times like these our companion animals are there with us and for us. They see us through hard times. Challenging times like these tend to bring out the best in people. Your gift today will help save lives, share joy and create love.
Will you make a gift today to help rescue more dogs like Alfie? Thank you in advance, and all the doggos and kitties thank you too!
