With widespread job losses and unemployment benefits expired, the COVID-19 pandemic has placed low- to moderate-income households in a very precarious position. According to a recent report by HousingLink, Minnesota’s primary source for affordable housing-related resources, the percentage who are staying current on rent is falling, and over a quarter of homeowners surveyed didn’t think they will make their rent after the governor’s anti-eviction order ends.

As David and Mary have watched the consequences of COVID-19 unfold, they hope to help other people who are at risk in our community. “We know that living in our community is a blessing, this is a wonderful place to raise a family, but we also know that this pandemic has broken apart the very fabric of people’s lives,” says David. 

For many families in our community who need short-term financial assistance, PROP is a stabilizing solution.
