Donate to provide fresh, nutritious food for local families grown by local, emerging farmers!

$5,460

raised by 81 people

$6,000 goal

Join us as we honor Martin Luther King, Jr.'s legacy to end hunger by providing good food for those who need it most in our community!

We're partnering with The Food Group to provide local, fresh, organically grown food to families who are struggling to access healthy food.  Fresh produce is one of the most requested items at food shelves across Minnesota and the cost can be a barrier to families who want to cook healthy foods but oftentimes must go without. Let's ensure everyone can access nutritious, culturally connected foods.

Help us feed the community while supporting local Black, Indigenous and  growers of Color! All donations will be used to purchase local, organically grown produce from farmers at Big River Farms, a program of The Food Group. The program focuses on organic agriculture education for farmers that have historically been underrepresented in farm ownership—including immigrants, people of color, and refugees.  Big River Farms provide their beginning farmers mentorship and guidance in managing their own 1/8 to 6-acre plots of certified organic land at Big River Farms 150-acre incubator farm near Marine on St. Croix, MN.

Donate today and receive $30 off your purchase of a 2021 Big River Farms CSA share. There are a variety of options to choose from and lots of ways to personalize your share.  A percentage of each share sold also funds BRF farmer resources, such as access to land, tools, and marketing support. BRF produce is certified organic and is grown following national standards set by the USDA. This guarantees CSA members that our farmers are using best practices for the health of themselves, the environment, and the folks who eat their produce.

The need for food is historically high. Thousands of Minnesotans have lost access to food due to the pandemic, recession and civil unrest.

It takes a community to feed a community. Thank you for your compassion for your neighbors.
