Bisexual Organizing Project (BOP) is Essential! 

Since 1999, Bisexual Organizing Project has worked officially as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit to build, serve, and advocate for an empowered bisexual, pansexual, fluid, queer, and unlabeled (bi+) community to promote social justice. Today, we continue to help create a community for anyone within the Bi+ umbrella by providing community organizing, education, and training.  Right now, we need community and we need your help to continue our mission.

This is what we do: 

The BECAUSE Conference started in 1992 and is the largest and longest-running conference for the bi+ community in the United States. It has been a long-standing cornerstone of the bi community.

We keep BECAUSE as accessible as possible with free or pay-what-you-can registration, by providing meals and receptions throughout the weekend, and by offering scholarships. Paid registrations only cover about a third of our conference expenses. The conference happens because of the amazing financial support of individuals, organizations, and businesses. Help us keep BECAUSE available to the entire community!

• $100 covers the cost of a person to attend BECAUSE
• $150 covers lunch for 10 people
• $1500 covers the cost for a national keynote presenter

BOP also provides year-round programming to build and support the bi+ community. We are committed to providing free and pay-what-you-can programs to make our services accessible to our diverse community. What can your contribution accomplish?

• Allow BOP to provide free social events and community spaces year-round, such as our Bi+ Book Club, Bi+ Discussion Meetups, Bi+ Walking Club, Bi+ Board Game Nights, "Pancakes for Pansexuals", and many more! 
• Help BOP to produce our annual Bi-Lesque performance, which has been hailed as "one of the most important burlesque shows in [the Twin Cities]." 

Another important part of BOP’s work is attending regional Pride celebrations in Minnesota and beyond. We provide a bi+ resource to attendees, work with Pride organizers to keep bi and trans included in their promotions and onsite language, and network with other organizations around the region about how they are serving their bi+ constituents. Help us fund our bi+ advocacy in our region.

• $25 covers a volunteer’s gas to travel to a regional Pride event.
• $100 covers the tabling fee for a regional Pride event.
• $1000 covers all our costs to table at TC Pride and march in the parade!

Bi+ individuals make up the largest population of the LGBTQ+ community, and experience significantly higher rates of mental illness, sexual assault and intimate partner violence, substance abuse, and chemical dependency, workplace discrimination, poverty, and social isolation than gay, lesbian, and heterosexual populations. However, according to Funders for LGBTQ Issues, institutional funding of bisexual issues and organizations has been the lowest of all LGBTQ+ demographics tracked since 2002, and most LGBTQ+ organizations still do not offer bi+ specific resources or programming.
