SUPPORT US IN ADDRESSING THE DIGITAL DIVIDE
Your gift during #GIVEATHOMEMN makes a real and lasting impact for LJA scholars.
Laura Jeffrey Academy (LJA) is in need of providing reliable and up-to-date technology for all our scholars. To address the digital divide between scholars we are working to meet technology needs through our ask of Equity within Distance Learning. LJA is looking to purchase more devices and ensure quality infrastructure for families during distance learning and beyond.
LJA scholars use technology as a tool that empowers them to solve meaningful, real world problems and treat learning as co-investigators alongside their peers and teachers.
LJA’s goal is to continue providing spaces for scholars, during distance learning and after, to see their role in the classroom from learner-observer to learner-teacher-participant while giving them the confidence, legitimate voice in negotiating adult relationships.
LJA teachers use technology to provide academic focus and skills that are learned through the text of action and collaboration that affirms the individual talents of each scholar while giving them experience using technology to accomplish shared goals as a diverse team of learners.
Not only will your donation support in securing the devices but an infrastructure must be built to support exponential growth in the demand for internet capacity, ensure high reliability by avoiding key single points of failure, and provide access by students at any time and from any place.
Students with reliable, internet access in student-centric learning environments have the power to take ownership of their learning. They can set their own pace, follow their interests, and collaborate with experts and peers regardless of geography. Through such experiences they gain the skills and self-direction required by modern citizenship.
LJA has currently been able to supply 20% of our scholars with laptops, chromebooks, or iPads during distance learning. With your donation we will be able to address the needs of additional scholars ensuring equitable access to and engagement in education
Your gift will support important work of creating equitable resources:
$30 Protective Equipment
$50 Computer Charger and/or Replacement Battery
$100 Updating Systems on Outdated Technology
$200 Internet Hotspot
$275 Chromebook Laptop
With Gratitude and Appreciation,
