Here is a photo of me and my Christmas puppy, and you can just see the joy on my face. However, this story didn’t have a happy ending. About a week after this photo was taken, my little pup died from Parvo.

Parvo attacks the GI tract, which usually causes vomiting and bloody diarrhea. The pups can't keep food or water down, and if they are not treated, they suffer terribly and will likely die within three to five days. I'm told it is like having the worst stomach flu imaginable.

Safe Hands Rescue travels to Kentucky twice monthly, gathers dogs from shelters, and brings them to Minneapolis, but some of the dogs get Parvo and die a miserable death before they can jump the freedom train. Recently, Safe Hands Rescue purchased a new Safe House near the shelters in Kentucky, which will have an animal holding ward where dogs can receive proper care and reside in a safe, clean, temperature-controlled environment until they make the journey up north. To help accomplish this, I am raising funds on their behalf with our goal being $100,000.  Please consider donating any amount of money to their Virtual Fur Ball Gala and be a part of saving the lives of so many beautiful, loving animals.
