Families living at the edge of financial solvency are feeling pinched by the end of emergency COVID-19 support and the rise of inflation. For example, families receiving SNAP had been receiving additional per-child monthly benefits during the pandemic. The first week after this pandemic benefit ended in early 2023, our food shelf saw usage increase by 80%. We have continued to see this elevated traffic.

In our neighborhoods, 50% of adults 25+ have a high school diploma or less. African American children face some of the largest outcome disparities in Saint Paul Public Schools.

MN’s African American infants and birthing moms face mortality rates nearly twice as high as their White counterparts.

23% of households in underserved neighborhoods have incomes below poverty level.

Family Values for Life provides wraparound services to help low-income families from St. Paul’s move from crisis to stability by addressing four “pillars” of holistic wellbeing: spiritual, mental, physical, and financial and, YOU have this great opportunity to be a part of that.

We are joining Minnesota nonprofits for Give to the Max Day on November 16 and we need your help!

Your support will help us reach thousands of community members in the most holistic approach.  Our programs include:

--Jump Start to the New You - helps single parents build skills and knowledge, access resources, and become engaged parents, providers, and community members through weekly workshops and periodic events.

--Family support - 5,000 community resource referrals per year, plus goal-setting and ongoing case management using the Family-Centered Coaching model and culturally responsive practices.

--Healthy Mothers, Healthy Babies - prenatal and postpartum education and support, community resource referrals, and doula support to improve maternal/infant health outcomes in the Black community.

--Beauty for Ashes - individual and group grief and trauma support.

--U-Turn 180 Youth - family meals, homework help, recreation, social emotional and creative arts workshops weekly during the school year, plus camps during the summer.

--Reading Program - before/after school and 8-week summer reading support for students behind grade level in reading.

--Back to School - annual event that provides more than 3,500 filled backpacks and connects families to Saint Paul Public Schools and community partners.

--Basic needs and outreach - 2x/week (or by appointment) food distribution, quarterly household supplies distribution, holiday food boxes, and crisis assistance. We are on track to provide more than 460,000lbs of food in calendar year 2023.

Your help ensures the annual support to those in great need.
