Dabinoo’igan Shelter—New Shelter Fundraiser, Final Push!

Construction is underway at the new location for the Dabinoo’igan Shelter. AICHO has received a generous matching grant from the Shakopee Mdewakanton Tribal Nation, with every $1 matched up to $25,000. AICHO has raised $15,000 to date, meaning we only need to raise $10,000 more. With your help, we can make this final push and make the most out of this funding opportunity!

All funds will be used to help pay for construction costs, which include new office spaces, expanded number of shelter beds, a commercial kitchen, expanded common areas including green space, and increased security. Every dollar counts and your support will make a direct difference in the life of a person forced to flee violence, seeking safety and support to find a safer path forward in life. Dabinoo’igan Shelter ensures survivors are met with immediate response through 24-hour 7-days a week crisis line where an advocate is directly available to help find shelter and needed resources. Dabinoo’igan Shelter is designed as a culturally-specific shelter with a focused Indigenous approach available to all survivors. Survivors are able to access cultural support onsite and are directly supported by an experienced team of advocates.

In this final push, help make the new Dabinoo’igan Shelter a place built with direct community support!
