Hermine, a healthcare worker who immigrated from Cameroon is proudly packing boxes to move this month into a house in St. Paul, thanks in part to Minnesota Africans United (MAU). Owning a home has always been Hermine’s dream, but she found herself intimidated by the American system of laws, finances, and real estate sales – not to mention the language barrier! At a home ownership workshop co-hosted by MAU and Keller Williams Realty, Hermine met professionals and resources committed to serving the local African community. She received credit advice and attended an all-day workshop for first-time homeowner’s training. Through a Bell Bank connection she met at the MAU event, she eventually qualified and was approved for a loan. Hermine is now planting new roots in St. Paul, investing and contributing to her new community!

By donating to Minnesota Africans United on the Give to the Max Day, you can help fund additional homeowner’s workshops. Our goal is to increase the number of workshops from two to three per year. Thank you for your support of MAU and your investment in the future of your African-born neighbors!
