My Pit Bull is Family GTMD 2024

After college, I was battling some mental health challenges. And even though I know I have an amazing support system back in Texas, I loved living in Minneapolis. I knew I needed to create a support system here if I wanted to stay long-term. So in January 2020, I adopted Cleo, and that single decision quite literally changed my life.

When I decided not to renew my lease in 2021, I quickly learned how hard it can be to find housing that accepts dogs like her. Cleo (and 25+ other dog breeds) are often excluded from the pet policies of dog-friendly rentals. That’s when I discovered My Pit Bull is Family and their National Database of Dog-Inclusive Rentals, which helped me navigate the housing search.

My housing search ended when I bought my house in the summer of 2021. That same summer I started volunteering with My Pit Bull is Family. This summer I became a Board Member.

This organization has become a vital part of my life. Through it, I’ve met incredible people, built lasting friendships, and found a community that shares my passion for creating a better world for pets and their families.

This mission is deeply personal to me, and I’m asking for your support to help us keep families together. By advancing dog-inclusive rental and insurance policies and providing essential pet retention programs, we’re making a real difference. Every week, I see firsthand how our vision is coming to life—communities where pets and people live together free from discrimination, with equitable and accessible pet support services. Together, we can make this vision a reality for even more families.

My goal is to raise $1,000 to help families stay together with their pets, no matter their breed or circumstances. Every donation, big or small, makes an impact.
