CDHS is growing — and we need your help. With your gift today, you’ll help children across southeastern Minnesota gain access to high-quality, affordable dental care by supporting our brand-new clinic in Rochester. Together, we can make sure no child is left in pain, waiting for care, or missing school because of decay.

Who We Are

Children’s Dental Health Services (CDHS) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit dedicated to eliminating barriers to children’s dental care in rural and underserved areas. We serve kids who are uninsured or enrolled in public assistance, providing preventive and restorative dental services in schools, Head Start programs, and our clinics in Rochester and Austin.

To reduce dental access barriers by providing a dental home to underserved children through comprehensive dental care and education, right where they are.

Why This Matters

Over 60% of children in Minnesota enrolled in public health programs receive no preventive dental services each year — meaning cavities go untreated and children suffer unnecessarily.

Untreated dental problems lead to missed school days, poor nutrition, pain, and diminished self-esteem. CDHS’s school-based, mobile, and clinic-based model addresses those inequities head‐on.

Our Expansion & Goal

We’ve purchased and moved into a new building in Rochester, where we now operate with six fully-equipped operatories — a significant upgrade that allows us to serve hundreds more children each month. With continued community support, we plan to build out up to 12 operatories total.

$20 = Ten dental take-home kits + oral health education materials
$50 = One dental sealant to protect a child’s tooth from cavities
$75 = Fluoride varnish + an educational session for a child
$150 = A full dental cleaning for a child in need
$250 = Restorative care (a filling) for a child in pain
$500 = Sponsor equipment or supplies for our clinic (e.g., 1,000 toothbrushes)
$1,000 = Sponsor a full day of care for uninsured children in a rural school
