Founded in 1990, UMNSVP was born from the minds of a small group of engineering students. Since then, we have built 14 cars, raced in 5 countries and become one of the most decorated teams in the US. This summer, we won first place in the American Solar Challenge Cruiser Class for the first time in our history! We’re not the type of team to take breaks though, and now we’re building a whole new car to race in Australia.

With the pandemic, it’s been four years since the team got the chance to race in the Bridgestone World Solar Challenge (BWSC). This over 1,800 mile race through the outback is an engineering challenge like no other, and our team is preparing to take it on once again. 

From designing custom motors to encapsulating our array, we take pride in empowering our engineers to innovate. We are entirely student-run, so it’s only with the help of generous donors like you that our team can continue. This Give to the Max Day, we’re asking for your help to get the team to Australia. We are putting all the money we raise toward our BWSC race entry fees.
