Vernoys Love MiMS

When we moved to Minnesota, we were looking for a way to get involved locally. An organization that combines running with social justice was an easy choice, and Mile in My Shoes fit perfectly.

Katie started as a Run Mentor, showing up for those early miles with neighbors working toward big goals. When we heard the board needed someone with nonprofit experience, Jordan stepped in. She handles the extroverted side, he handles the behind-the-scenes side—it works.

For many Mile in My Shoes team members, receiving a gear kit is what makes them feel a part of the crew. It is more than getting shoes and clothes — it’s about belonging. Some members come to MiMS without running experience or access to the right gear, but once they put it on, they feel part of something bigger. The kits symbolize acceptance and equality — no one separate or judged, just one team running together. Your support makes that possible.

A $202 donation sponsors the full gear kit for one runner. We are hoping 10 of our friends and family will sponsor a gear kit, and we are going to match the first 5 gear kits that are sponsored (up to $1,010).

Please help us by making a donation of any amount in support of Mile in My Shoes. Gifts of all sizes go directly toward providing running gear, race entries, workshops and community-building events MiMS Members. Here are some ideas:

• $202 - Sponsors a Member's gear kit for a season (socks, shoes, gloves, shirt, shorts and sports bra) 
• $35 - Sponsors a Resident Member in a 5K race. 
• $50 - Buys a pair of running shoes for a Member. 
• $100 - Buys a all the milestones for one Member (10-run blue shirt, 20-run Alumni shirt + GPS watch, 30-run long-sleeve, 50-run hoodie)
• $300 - Covers all the gear + distance race entry
