Growing up in Minnesota and being surrounded by the most welcoming, loving, and diverse community has truly shaped me into the person I am. There is no better place in the world to grow up. As someone who no longer resides in Minnesota, it is especially difficult to feel like I am supporting my community from elsewhere. In a small effort of support, I am dedicating my upcoming half marathon to raise money for MIRAC. I am extremely proud of being Minnesotan and am in strong support of the work that MIRAC continues to do for our immigrant neighbors. Please read below about their mission and efforts amid the current climate.  I love you Minnesota!!!!!!!

“ICE attacks in the Twin Cities have forced many immigrant families into hiding! This keeps individuals away from their work, and children away from school.  Immigrant families and businesses are devastated.

MIRAC is fund-raising to support our beloved Latino and Somali immigrant communities during this time of fear and intimidation from federal officials.  We are also leading a movement to say No More Deportations and to say No More Collaboration between local public safety officials and federal ICE officers.

MIRAC Education Fund is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization and so all donations are tax exempt.

MIRAC is an all-volunteer grassroots organization that has mobilized and educated the immigrant community and their allies since 2006. We believe that no one is illegal and center our work under this belief. We are led by predominantly BIPOC and immigrant community members. For over 19 years, MIRAC has mobilized community members to take action through community education, protests, marches, and demonstrations.”
