Rhoda moved to Mora with her new family in 1970 and immersed herself in the community. She became a volunteer to the Vasaloppet early on and presented a wreath to the winner of the 1986 race. In 1992 Rhoda helped present the unveiling of the flag poles at the race’s starting line that were placed in memory of her husband Leon LeRud. Rhoda was very proud of the time she spent volunteering for the Vasaloppet to honer her community and her Scandinavian heritage.
