Letting go of someone or something you love so much is one of the hardest things to go through. Elmer (the chocolate lab above) was the first example of loving someone more than myself and making a decision that was ultimately best for him.

There was a pretty long list of things that made re-homing Elmer seem impossible. On paper, he was blind, older, and had lymes disease that would never go away. No matter how much I would voice how sweet, loving, smart and caring Elmer was; Most people and organizations saw his handicaps making it nearly impossible in finding another home for him. I was getting into a situation where I didn't know what to do. I was in the thick of raising my newborn and fighting my husbands life changing medical diagnosis. I saw the toll it was also taking on Elmer and had no idea where I could turn or who to turn to. Then enter Grey Face.

Grey Face Retirement and Rescue was the first to step in and agree to help. They walked me through the surrender process and found one of the most loving fosters there is. They gave Elmer the attention he needed. I'll never forget my first time at their facility and seeing the loving staff/ volunteers. Their interaction with Elmer was filled with compassion. I knew then, that I wanted to be involved in a meaningful rescue that helps so many animals get a second chance that they all deserve.

In order to continue to provide care and grow Grey Face, I ask that you consider donating to this non profit for dogs like Elmer, and families like mine that had no where else to turn.

Thank you for your consideration,

Becca.
