Give them Language! MDS Birth to 3 Year Program

Metro Deaf School provides an education experience that is rich in ASL to students ages 2.5 to 21. Our 27 year history has provided us with valuable lessons and insights into giving students access to the world through American Sign Language.

Yet challenges for students still remain. Students cannot attend Metro Deaf School until they are at least 2.5 years old. This means that students often come to us, having limited to no language during these valuable first years of life! They are already playing catch-up when they arrive here! 

We want to change that! Metro Deaf School is working to establish a Birth to 3 year old Program that would provide families and our young Deaf, DeafBlind and Hard of Hearing students with valuable resources and support to develop language during these important formative years. Having this early foundation in language will set them up for success as they use that language to develop relationships and access the world around them from the very beginning!
