Hi everybody! I’m Steve Munnelly, a Tenor 2 in the Chorus, a member of the OutLoud! small ensemble, and the Chair of the Board of Directors for the Twin Cities Gay Men’s Chorus. I’d like to tell you a little bit about how important the Chorus is to me.
When my husband and I moved to the Twin Cities in 2019, we didn’t have many friends or a vehicle to make friends. We met some very nice neighbors and coworkers, but there was something distinctly missing: music friends.
After the pandemic, we were both craving personal connections in an outlet for our musical creativity. With Brian being a composer and classically trained singer and with me being a jazz/pop singer used to singing in a weekly piano bar and the Gay Men’s Chorus of Washington, we both felt that TCGMC would be a great place for us to meet people and express ourselves.
Turns out, we were right! The chorus has become a place of refuge, friendship, camaraderie, and enthusiasm for us. We both have become involved in small ensembles, and I was able to lend some of my skills to the Board of Directors.
Please consider making a donation to keep this amazing organization growing, doing important work with the community and staying that place of refuge for folks in the LGBTQ+ community.
