I first learned about importance of palliative care -- a hard-to-pronounce word that's often misunderstood, but a blessing to many -- when I worked for the Parkinson's Foundation. In the medical field, we focus on fighting disease and saving lives. But equally important is making sure people have the tools to live their lives to the fullest. The volunteers for the Parkinson's Foundation -- people with Parkinson's and care partners -- wanted a cure, but they also also yearned for strategies to improve the quality of their lives. Hospice and palliative care is the path for people to live a good life -- and experience a good death.
In a year when a global pandemic prevented families from spending the last moments with their loved ones, hospice providers adapted to ensure quality of life was at the forefront during a particularly challenging time.
That's why I've served on the Minnesota Network of Hospice & Palliative Care board for the past three years, and why I ask you to support this important work. Your donation will help us to work toward our mission of ensuring that everyone has the help they need to live and die according to their wishes. Thank you for your donation.
