Betty and Wilma, pictured above, now live peacefully at Spring Farm Sanctuary. Originally valued only for their eggs, they were slated to be killed once their egg production naturally declined around two years of age.
Sadly, animals raised for food suffer for many reasons. Most never see the outdoors. Their beaks, tails, or testicles are cut off without anesthetic. They are forcefully bred against their will. Then they are separated from their young.
