New update
Friday evening we went to a house that someone recommended we stop at. They had an adult dog and two puppies. The two puppies were very skinny and mangy. The owners said they lost their job and couldn’t feed them. They allowed us to take the two puppies and we gave them food for their dog.
We left with happiness that we were able to bring Dixie and Dice into rescue and help feed their dog.
The happiness turned to worry today when Dixie was sick and had a strong parvo test. She went to the ER and received the antibody and is currently hospitalized. She already has a feeding tube as well. I picked her up Friday evening with so much hope and commitment she was going to be on her next journey of a good life. And now she’s fighting for her life.
Had we not been there that night, she and her brother would be dying a painful death right now. While we’re not sure if she’ll recover, we’ll give her our best fight.
On top of that, every day for weeks we have been talking as a team on how we just cannot get ahead. We’ve had so many wonderful people donating and it’s allowed us to continue to help animals each week but I’m worried that will quickly change.
Considering how sick Dixie is - we are guessing her care will be at least $3,000 minimum. Her brother is also going to the vet tomorrow to receive the injection and hopefully get ahead of things.
I promise that your dollars are so well spent. The hug Dixie gave me when I picked her up was so real. I didn’t care if she had fleas or mites. She needed that hug and I’m realizing now just how much they meant to me as well. Your donations allow this to happen and we are so grateful.
With close to $1 million in anticipated veterinary expenses for 2025, Rescue Network needs our support now more than ever. This Give to the Max Day, let’s come together to help them continue saving lives!
