About Zenon Dance School
Established in 1983, Zenon Dance School has been an essential institution in the Twin Cities dance community for the past 40 years. Housed on the 4th floor of the Cowles Center for Dance in downtown Minneapolis, and in two beautiful studios providing a welcoming environment for dancers of all ages and levels.
Zenon Dance School offers four sessions of dance classes per year, with over 25 adult and youth classes offered per session. The school caters to an annual average of 4,000 recreational, pre-professional, and professional dancers with a curriculum that includes a wide range of dance styles, including traditional techniques like ballet, modern, and jazz, as well as hip-hop, afro-modern, and belly dance. Our faculty comprises over 40 of the region's leading teachers, dancers, accompanists, and choreographers, who bring their unique expertise and experience to every class.
Zenon's Dance Zone program provides a unique platform for local dancers and choreographers to collaborate and create innovative dance performances. Intermediate to professional dancers are selected through an audition process and attend 4 weekly classes plus rehearsals to hone their skills. The program culminates in a showcase featuring local guest artists, providing a stage for dancers to showcase their creativity and skills.
ZenONLINE provides a virtual platform for movement classes and offers independent artists the chance to share their teachings with students from all around the world. Dancers from Minneapolis to Madrid have joined us, bringing together a global community of passionate movers. ZenONLINE continues to offer 2-5 online and hybrid dance classes weekly, spreading the joy of movement.
With its highly experienced faculty, diverse curriculum, and unique Dance Zone program, the school provides an unparalleled dance education experience for dancers of every level.
Programs for gaining access
The Youth Outreach Program is a charitable initiative that aims to promote education and personal growth among young people. The program provides need-based scholarships that cover 50% to 100% of the enrollment fees for a single class or camp per session. The scholarships are designed to give young people who may not have the financial means, the opportunity to participate in a class or camp that will help them develop new skills, pursue their interests, and build confidence. The Youth Outreach Program believes that every young person deserves a chance to grow and succeed, regardless of their financial background.
Zenon Dance Zone offers an adult dance program for all levels and ages, including those with diverse dance backgrounds, who seek to deepen their dance experience. The intensive program is subsidized and provides dancers with the opportunity to grow and evolve in their art.
Xchange Volunteer Program provides an exciting opportunity for students to earn dance class credit while making a positive impact through volunteering, both in person and online via ZenONLINE.
