WHAT IS YOUTHPRISE?

Youthprise’s mission is to increase equity with and for Minnesota’s indigenous, low-income, and racially diverse youth. We envision a Minnesota where outcomes are no longer predictable by race, geography, or socioeconomic status. Youthprise innovates systems, structures, and practices that enable youth to thrive by mobilizing and investing resources; advancing knowledge, and advocating for change. Our three priority areas include: 

• Learning and Leadership: Promote the learning, leadership and social-emotional development of youth and seek to shift how programs engage youth in leadership and governance. 
• Economic Opportunity: Create opportunities for economic prosperity by supporting programs and initiatives that build workforce skills, promote youth entrepreneurship, and expose youth to career pathways. 
• Health and Safety: Promote the holistic health and safety of young people by meeting basic needs and ensuring young people are safe and not criminalized in their communities.

Founded by the McKnight Foundation in 2010, Youthprise is the leading youth-centered philanthropic organization in the state of Minnesota.  In 2019, we invested over $5 million in youth programs and initiatives across the state, addressing pressing youth issues of education, career readiness, health, and leadership development.
