About the Foundation

In July, 2008 Worthington Regional Health Care Foundation, Inc. mission was expanded.  The Foundation went from supporting the local city hospital to a public community foundation serving Worthington and the surrounding communities.  Governed by a 9-member volunteer Board of Directors, grants are reviewed quarterly and scholarships are awarded bi-annually.  Since 2008, over $2.4 million in grants, matching grants and scholarship has been awarded to area agencies, non-profits and area health care students throughout Nobles County.  The mission of the Foundation continues to focus on the areas of health, wellness and education.

Health – All ages in our area have been supported by the Foundation when it comes to health.  Diabetes education, provision of portable defibrillators at various gathering places throughout Nobles County and making sure there is access to healthy foods for those in need are just a few examples of how the Foundation is impacting health in our community.  For the Foundation, a healthy community is a strong community.

Wellness – The Foundation has supported wellness throughout our communities through grants and sponsorships to many organizations.  Working with local health care providers, the Foundation has supported the school flu shot program to make sure every child has access to vaccination regardless of ability to pay.  The Foundation has also supported the YMCA and their efforts to provide swimming lessons to all 2nd graders in Nobles County along with other programming needs for the youth.  All ages have benefited from Foundation support including the Splashpad to Pickle Ball to a new all-inclusive park for residents of all physical abilities.   The Foundation continues to work to make sure our community has access to wellness activities, programs and venues.

Education – The Foundation has provided grants to various local agencies.  The funds have been used in assisting older individuals to address the challenges of aging, to teach area 2nd graders to swim, and to support local schools in matters of health education.  The demand for educated health care workers continues to grow.  The Foundation has a robust scholarship program which provides grants to area students who wish to pursue careers in health care.  By doing so, the Foundation helps to ensure the availability of such workers in our community now and into the future.”

Check out what others are saying about the Foundation:

"To be a strong community leader, and attract talented employee's, we believe businesses need to reinvest in the community and provide the services and amenities good employee's demand.  We've learned by partnering with WRHCF, Inc. we can leverage our investments and make meaningful commitments to community projects like the YMCA Strong Kids Campaign, Center for Active Learning, Worthington Area Youth Baseball Association, 4-H Clubs, to name just a few.  All these opportunities make Worthington a better place to live and work for all families."  Greg Raymo, CEO First State Bank Southwest

"The funding that the Manna Food Pantry, Inc. has received through the WRHCF, Inc. over the past several years has been a great asset to us.  These dollars have helped purchase the much-needed food items to help keep our families in Nobles County supplied with healthy foods.  Words cannot express the gratitude we have for the funds we have received from WRHCF, Inc. to keep families from going on hungry on a daily basis - thank you!!  Linda Sanchez, Coordinator Manna Food Pantry, Inc.

Early Risers Kiwanis has benefitted greatly from WRHCF, Inc. for their generous support of a matching grant of $125,000 toward raising funds for our All-Inclusive Park playground.  Due to the Foundation's generosity, the park is a reality and planning on being installed in Spring, 2021.  Thank You!  Clair Williams, Treasurer Early Morning Kiwanis of Worthington

As Kiwanis members, we strive to build better communities and community projects especially for children.  We have seen the joys of Splash Parks have created in other communities and decided to make that happen in Worthington.  Raising those kinds of funds are hard, but when we announced that WRHCF, Inc. was matching funds, the gates opened and our citizens responded.  We were able to put a Splash Pad in Worthington that has been a pure treasure for kids and parents.  The match was just the trigger to get people to invest whole-heartedly in this project.  Thank you WRHCF, Inc.  Chad Cummings, Project Co-Chair Worthington Noon Kiwanis Splash Pad
