Workforce Development, Inc.

A nonprofit organization

"I needed more in life for my kids, and I was not going to just sit around waiting for someone to just hand it over. I could not begin to imagine where I would be without Workforce Development, Inc. I'm guessing I would have not gone to college." - Jessica Meade

At Workforce Development, Inc. (WDI) our mission is to develop and advance the workforce of Southeast Minnesota. WDI helps thousands of people each year throughout Southeastern Minnesota counties dramatically improve their job prospects. Our focus is helping people find long-term employment with better earning potential.

Every WDI location is staffed by experienced professionals who care deeply about the people they serve and the communities in which they live.  All services by professional WDI staff members are FREE.  The services include career assessment, career counseling, skills training, job search guidance, resources and preparation for further training and education.

Here's what our job seekers have to say:

-----

"I became unemployed after 33 years of employment. WDI’s Dislocated Worker program allowed me to gain additional skills through education. This is a wonderful program with wonderful staff. Workforce Development, Inc. was a positive place to get support and encouragement during a time I would call a crisis in my life."

-----

"My WDI career counselor helped me get through some very hard times in my life. I could always talk with her about anything. She was very understanding.  I have been working at my job for three months now. I get to meet a lot of new people, and I love my job very much. I am able to help take care of my family. Workforce Development, Inc. is a good place to go for help."

-----

"I came to Workforce Development, Inc. for help finding a job. What I was doing on my own wasn't working. Everyone was very helpful. My career counselor helped me create a resume and post it online. I attended classes for dislocated workers that were also very helpful. Without this assistance, I may not have had the confidence or the willingness to keep searching until I found a job."

-----

"I was referred to the Workforce Development, Inc. youth program through my teacher. My dream job is to become a Veterinary Assistant. Through the youth program, I was able to work at a local veterinary clinic. I learned what a Veterinary Assistant does, including walking animals and cleaning kennels. I also learned the importance of coming to work on time. I now have a better understanding of what a Veterinary Assistant does."
