Learning through Play - Nurturing Social and Emotional Development - Preparing Children for Kindergarten
Founded in 2005, Wooddale Community Nursery School offers a multi-aged program for children aged 3 to 5 years in two sessions on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. Wooddale is a play-based preschool providing opportunities for learning naturally through various play activities. Our program focuses on socialization - developing the skills children need to get along in school so they are ready to start the academic part of learning when they head off to kindergarten. We teach children how to follow directions, share toys, and make friends. We want them to be excited about school and happy to be part of a learning community. We incorporate learning into our daily routines but our focus is on using play to help children grow and develop into capable school children. We want children participating in this program to have a positive first-school experience, be more aware of the world around them and eagerly anticipate going to school every day.
