For 25+ years, Women Planting Seeds has supported individuals escaping domestic violence, reentering from corrections, and rebuilding their lives after trauma. We’ve never turned anyone away. Now, we are rebuilding our website, expanding programs, and hiring essential staff – and we need your help to grow.

Our founder brings extensive professional experience, state partnerships, and trauma-responsive training credentials. We are uniquely positioned to grow with proper funding.

Statement of Need

Minnesota continues to face rising domestic violence incidents, reentry challenges, and addiction recovery gaps. Women Planting Seeds fills these gaps through direct support, advocacy, restorative dialogue, and holistic healing services. A one-of-a-kind evidence-based service delivery model that was born from the core of a true survivor/leader.

For more than two decades, Women Planting Seeds has been a quiet, but powerful force of healing in Minnesota. Founded by Rev. Dr. Mary Whitney, our program has:

1. Supported countless survivors fleeing domestic violence

2. Helped men, women, and youth returning home from incarceration find direction and dignity

1. Provided crisis coaching through 211

1. Offered restorative mediations in correctional facilities for 14 years

1. Fed families, hosted healing circles, and responded to people in their darkest moments

1. Delivered trauma-responsive, faith-centered, restorative support – always from the heart

And we need our founder to finally receive compensation for her decades of dedicated service. And for all of these years, we have never received consistent funding. Dr. Whitney has carried the entire mission – website, materials, PO Box, crisis response, printing, transportation, and direct support – out of her own pocket.
