What if you had the power to transform a child’s life? 

It's difficult to imagine what it must be like to hear the heartbreaking news that your child has been diagnosed with a critical illness. Imagine, for a moment, how powerless you might feel. You do everything you can to maintain a sense of normalcy for your child through endless doctor's appointments, treatments, insurance battles and ultimately, tears. It might seem impossible to help someone so young hang on to hope when they're enduring so much.

But what if there was an opportunity to prescribe that hope? What if there was a way to give them a break from the reality of their battle...to allow them to focus on something completely separate from their illness...and feel real joy? What if there was an opportunity to help them heal that didn't come in the form of a needle or a pill, but came in the form of a wish instead?

Research shows that children who have wishes granted can build the physical and emotional strength they need to fight a critical illness, which can give them a better chance of surviving and thriving.* In fact, the majority of wish kids whose wishes we grant go on to beat their illnesses and live typical, healthy lives – and they often credit the wish for giving them an edge in their fight.

WISHES CAN'T WAIT

The number of critically ill children needing the power of a wish is growing in Minnesota. We currently have the budget and staffing to grant 245 wishes this year. With more than 300 kids already waiting for their wish and an additional 100+ eligible kids in your community who haven’t yet been reached, we don’t have the funding needed to grant the number of necessary wishes. 

These wishes can’t wait. We know that a wish increases a child’s chance of surviving and thriving, as it gives them something to look forward to, which can lead to renewed strength to fight and a lifelong sense of hope and community. Additional funding is the only thing standing in the way of granting more wishes sooner.
