Founded in 1978, Wilderness Inquiry’s mission is to connect people of all ages, backgrounds, and abilities to each other and the natural world through shared outdoor adventures. We use the outdoors as a catalyst to facilitate meaningful growth opportunities for all people – improving individual and community connections and wellbeing.

Access to the outdoors has become one of the most important means for maintaining social connection, emotional wellbeing, and physical health. Wilderness Inquiry is supporting students, teachers, and families with educational content and nature-based, distance-learning programs. We are also providing opportunities for connection and outdoor engagement through guidance for socially distanced outdoor activities and adjusted programming to directly serve families and smaller groups. In 2021, Wilderness Inquiry will engage more than 10,000 individuals through small group and family trips and educational, place-based learning programs in the outdoors.

Through inclusive adventures, we seek to engage, inspire, and make the outdoors accessible for people of all ages, backgrounds, and abilities. Your support makes that possible. A gift to Wilderness Inquiry provides connections to community and the outdoors in this time when they matter most.

Inclusive Outdoor Experiences That Change Lives

Your gift helps us provide scholarships for people with financial need, programs for underserved youth and families, support services for people with disabilities, and more.

Making the Outdoors Accessible

Wilderness Inquiry brings incredible outdoor experiences to adults, youth, and families of all abilities and inspires everyone to find common humanity.

Removing Barriers

Financial aid and supported programs make it possible for individuals and families to experience the outdoors regardless of their socioeconomic status.

Connecting for Improved Outcomes

Wilderness Inquiry’s youth programs have been demonstrated to improve school performance, cultivate a stewardship ethic, and create pathways to pursue educational and career opportunities in the outdoors.

Looking Forward

As we emerge from the challenges of COVID-19 and the impact of the pandemic on connection, learning, and engagement for youth and families, Wilderness Inquiry’s inclusive outdoor programs will be as important as ever to invest in the mental, physical, and emotional health of our diverse community of participants.

Please join us in this endeavor as we work together to ensure that the outdoors remain a place where everyone belongs.
