Your dollars provide an arts-infused, supportive education that values the unique gifts and needs of each student.

Watershed High School is committed to Community, Creativity, and Support.  We have also committed to being innovative and engaging. With our full-time art teacher co-teaching with our core teachers, our lessons are hands-on and allow students to be creative and unique.

Watershed is all about a sense of community, belonging, and equity. We have weekly all-school circles where students sit by a different person each time.  Our materials all belong to the whole student body so everyone has equal access to supplies.

The mission of Watershed is to empower students to grow socially and academically in a safe, flexible, supportive arts-infused environment. Our vision is to help each student believe they can succeed in whatever they dream for themselves, starting with graduating from high school. Students will develop self-confidence, respect for themselves and others, the ability to advocate for themselves, and the ability to stick it out when the going gets tough. At Watershed, a community of allies recognizes and encourages each individual student’s strengths.

In the words of our students:

"For some students, Watershed is like a second home; for others, it's a first."

"Watershed is like the Island of Misfit Toys in Rudolph.  People who don't belong somewhere else come together and feel like they belong."

At Watershed..."there was a whole army who loved me at my worst, who pushed me when I was at my weakest, who filled me with love when I was empty, who believed in me when seemingly the world had forgotten me, they never forgot me, and here they are, I carry their love in my heart and their wisdom in my mind."

In the words of a parent:

Watershed High School was the perfect fit for our daughter at a time in her life when being in a small, creative, and supportive learning environment was exactly what she needed. The teachers and school leadership invest in the students and teach in creative ways. They also assess the students' proficiency in each subject and group them accordingly, to maximize their learning opportunities and their own sense of success. We also appreciated the school's emphasis on community service and the opportunities that they created for the school community to do projects together. Providing students with ways to help others inevitably helps them gain skills, empathy, and perspective in their own lives - often a piece of a traditional educational curriculum that doesn't get a lot of attention. The high school years can be a challenging time, so finding the right place where our child could thrive and feel positively about the future was a great gift to us.
