Volunteers in Education (VinE)'s mission is to engage the community in the education of its students, supporting their growth and preparing them for productive citizenship. VinE is dedicated to providing students with the support they need to be successful. VinE Site Coordinators match volunteer tutors from the community with students teachers identify as needing additional one-on-one or small group work. VinE was founded in 2009 and began working with 26 tutors in the Cook, Tower, and Babbitt schools and has grown to offer services to students across 9 schools.
In the 2019-2020 school year, 79 VinE tutors worked with 668 students in eight schools to improve academic success. With the switch to distance learning in our schools, VinE tutors were unable to meet with their students. In the Fall of 2020, VinE worked with our districts and adjusted our program to begin offering distance tutoring. While the logistics are more complicated, the needs has only increased. This year, more than ever, we need your help to make VinE's mission happen and provide the support students need to be successful.
We invite you to join our mission by becoming engaged in your school as a volunteer tutor. Volunteers and donations are always welcome to help continue this good work.
Thank you for your support!
