Voices For Racial Justice

Thank you for standing with us in our vision for racial justice within communities of color in Minnesota. This work interrupts the systems of oppression built on legacies of genocide, land theft, slavery, and exploitation. 

In 2023, we celebrated historic racial justice wins for our communities of color in Minnesota. This year was the culmination of decades of organizing and advocacy for change and investment in Black, brown, Indigenous, and LGBTQ people. 

We are in a moment of tremendous forward momentum, yet we face equally tremendous backlash against our progress. Let us seize this moment as an invitation to dream bigger, to imagine what else we can cultivate to support future generations of organizers, and expand our communities’ access to and power in decision-making spaces.

This Give to the Max Day, we’ve set a goal of raising $50,000 to support our digital storytelling, healing spaces, community leadership development, and policy solutions. In 2023, we: 

• Completed our 30th year as an organization in Minnesota movement building
• Celebrated the 5th anniversary of our Education Equity Parent Fellowship, supporting BIPOC parents to be well-informed advocates for the success of their children and leaders in education 
• Deepened our relationships with with community organizers and advocates to develop and strengthen the tools we use to fight for racially just policy and legislation
• Created and nurtured spaces for justice-impacted families to support each other in navigating the mass incarceration system
• Provided training, coaching, and facilitation support to help individuals and organizations get even more powerful at effecting transformative change for racial justice

At Voices for Racial Justice, we believe that meaningful change is the result of transforming deep love and care for community into action. As we reflect on the years of hard work that have brought us to this moment, and recognize the work still ahead, we must continue supporting organizers by strengthening spaces of healing, connection, and joy.
