Veterans Farming Initiative Inc

Veterans Farming Initiative (VFI) is a 501.C.3 nonprofit corporation serving veterans from all eras and branches of service, their families, and surrounding communities. VFI uses adaptive growing methodology and appropriate technology, thus enabling anyone to be able to grow healthy foods and generate value-added products.

We believe in restorative practices to increase the health of the land, benefit the local environment, and enrich the community and the economy. Ethical treatment of the land and animals is of the utmost importance to VFI. As such, we strive to use local- and veteran-owned businesses in support of the needs of the initiative. This relationship will bring ever increasing prosperity to the local communities while providing better food choices to all with whom we connect. 

VFI is an ambitious endeavor in that we are a veteran- and community-supported operational farm, centered in Montrose, MN, that employs Permaculture and regenerative principles throughout the 24-acre growing site. Beyond the existing functional buildings and requisite equipment, VFI looks to increase its infrastructure in order to support healing programs, educational opportunities, volunteer and employment opportunities, and community enrichment events.
