Universal Music Center- Enriching Lives Through Music Education

Thank you for your interest in Universal Music Center! Our mission is simple: Enrich lives through music education.

Your support provides funding for our tuition scholarship program, loaner instrument program, and so much more. We have built our organization to ensure that EVERYONE can access music education, regardless of their financial situation. We need your help to continue this mission!

Universal Music Center was created and founded by lifelong professional musician and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee band The Lovin' Spoonful and Spoonful of Love drummer, Mike Arturi. Mike has spent the last four decades performing live and in studio as a musician at a local, national, and international level, and engaging in music industry business applications. Mike is passionate about sharing his love for music and the lessons that can be learned on stage and in the practice room. Through live public speaking, recorded interviews, one-on-one educating, personal mentoring, music integration, and live performance, Mike shares his lifetime of experience in order to encourage others in whatever they are taking on in life. Mike endeavors to help others achieve goals and offers tools that support the processes to success, and with this passion, he engineered UMC to deliver value and tangible positive results.

In addition to gaining technical and aesthetic skills in a range of musical forms and instruments, UMC’s core program provides students the opportunity to gain the life skills of preparation, professional conduct, team work, and pride in accomplishment. The program includes 1:1 private lessons, monthly music workshops, and optional quarterly live and virtual (online) performances. The live performance option gives students a sense of focus and make their progress a tangible reality. In 2020, UMC proudly implemented online music lessons, as well as hybrid online/in person lesson tracks.

UMC is located in Red Wing, MN and serves Goodhue County and its surrounding areas. In addition to its core program, UMC offers a lesson only option, a Native American flute program, a songwriting program, recording and engineering, an after school children’s songwriting / music appreciation course, Drum Circles for wellness, community and corporate populations, the Complete Concert Creation course, and more. UMC also offers programs for the Minnesota Correctional Facility as well as Tower View High School, and collaborates with The Sheldon Theater of Performing Arts and The Anderson Center for the Arts, all located in Red Wing, MN
