Equitable, long-term land access for gardening and farming in the Twin Cities region

Mission

TCALT advocates for and builds long-term, affordable access to land for communities to grow food because collective land stewardship is a critical component of racial and economic justice.

Vision

TCALT envisions a Twin Cities region in which all people who seek to grow food will have an array of tenure options that support sufficient and stable land access. Land will be used to produce nourishing and culturally-significant food using sustainable agricultural practices. Food shared through care networks and markets will help meet community food needs.

TCALT will work with organizations, residents, growers, cities, and counties to enact anti-racist and de-colonial policies and structures. We will center Black, Indigenous, and other communities that have been marginalized by historical and current systems to co-create liberatory relationships with land and food. Ultimately, TCALT will work towards integrating agriculture and collective food cultivation into our neighborhoods, cities, and counties as a valued land use to establish cultural centers, build community wealth, nourish each other, and care for environments.

Goals

TCALT’s mission to support community gardens and urban farms needs your support for this year’s Give to the Max Day on November 18! We are asking for donations to:

  1. Create a fund to help community gardens navigate changes in land ownership, threats of eviction, and unforeseen challenges. These resources could mean the difference between our partners being able to grow or not in uncertain times.
  2. Provide language interpretation at our events and for our documents. This would make TCALT’s entire process accessible to growers from a wide range of backgrounds.

Your support would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
