We are so grateful for the support of fellow animal lovers who donate so we can save those who are most vulnerable in our community. In our rural area, most towns don't have an impound for strays and the nearest shelter is over an hour away. Our group of volunteers work tirelessly to not only save animals in need, but also place them in wonderful, forever homes.
Tracy Area Animal Rescue is a small 501c3 non-profit organization based in southwest Minnesota (but saving animals from all over!). TAAR is operated by 5 board members, dedicated volunteers and foster homes. All members of TAAR are non-paid and care for these animals out of love and compassion. Since our organization was created in 2008, we have saved over 3,500 animals and found them loving homes or sanctuary within our organization. We primarily rescue cats and dogs in need (but also help with birds, ferrets, goats, pigs and other random critters) and provide them with medical care before placing them with their new families. We include: spay/neuter, vaccines, and other basic medical care before placement. Our primary concerns are dealing with overpopulation and neglect. We save dogs from puppy mills, breeder releases (when breeding dogs are too old or ill to produce more puppies), overcrowded shelters, strays from all over southwest Minnesota and South Dakota, abuse cases, and we take in pets who are left alone after their owners pass. We take in all breeds and do not shy away from medical issues. We also save as many cats and kittens as we possibly can.
We assist members of our community and encourage adoption of rescued pets to provide companionship! We have placed cats and dogs with individuals with disabilities, veterans, senior citizens, and low-income families with reduced or waived adoption fees and veterinary expense assistance. We also work with people who need help with covering unexpected vet bills or food for their pets in times of need.
We are often the last hope for these animals in need in our area. We rely solely on donations and sponsorship from our community. We can't thank our sponsors enough and we want to continue to make an impact of animal homelessness and neglect, but we can't do it without you! Thank-you for considering a donation to our organization!
