The Third Rail

The Third Rail is an artist-run Minneapolis-based nonprofit arts publication and website.

The Third Rail is a free print-based publication and website featuring work by local, national, and internationally recognized artists, writers, and filmmakers. Our goal is to enhance artists’ community value and contribute to the cultural vitality of Minnesota by producing a locally based arts publication that is distributed internationally. The Third Rail can be found at various libraries, art museums and cultural centers including: Walker Art Center (Mn), Minneapolis College of Art and Design (Mn), Midway Contemporary Art (Mn), Printed Matter (NYC), Pompidou Center (Paris), Artbook PS1 MoMA (LIC NY), 192 Books (NYC), Machine Project (LA), Harlan Levey Projects (Brussels), Atomic Books (Baltimore) and many many more.

Goals for 2021:

To continue producing a print-based publication of international concern with accompanying web-exclusive content

To continue supporting our contributing artists and writers

To develop issue-related programming in conjunction with the publication, including screenings, artist books, lectures, workshops and other community events
