ThinkSelf Deaf Adult Education & Advocacy

Since 2017, ThinkSelf has partnered with learners, survivors, and allies in the community in navigating systems, finding safety, and achieving personal goals towards independence and self-empowerment.

Our changing social climate and its overdue reckoning for justice and equity continue to resonate in the lives of people in our communities. Some continue to live in unhealthy, even dangerous, home environments with few clear options for safe, affordable housing.  Many remain isolated in households with family members who know little or no sign language.

Any show of financial support will go a long way in allowing us to continue to provide a range of tangible resources such as:

• Transportation and moving expenses for individuals and families escaping violence
• Equipment loans for learning at home
• Transportation for learners to attend school and work
• Limited legal financial assistance for crime victims and survivors of interpersonal violence, e.g., filing fees, interpreting, apartment deposits
• Basic needs including food, winter clothing, and basic household items
• Outreach and awareness efforts
