The Open Door's Impact:
· The Open Door provided support to families more than 55,000 times in 2021 in more than 50 different locations.
· 2.9 million pounds of food was distributed in 2021 and 2022's food distribution number is looking to surpass that!
· Because of gifts like yours, The Open Door's programming was able to expand in 2022. A new senior living facility in Eagan was added to the Mobile Pantry Program as well as an elementary school in Burnsville and a neighborhood Pop-Up Produce distribution in Farmington. These are the first sites added since before the pandemic!
· The Mobile Lunchbox Program provided roughly 26,000 meals and snackpacks, from May-September, to kids throughout 26 Dakota County neighborhoods where the absence of that daily school lunch was hitting the hardest.
· The large-scale distribution that launched in response to the Covid-19 pandemic has become a weekly installment for The Open Door's Mobile Pantry Program that sets up in the parking lot of the old Metcalf Middle School in Burnsville. It sees roughly 1,500 households come through EVERY month and distributes about 75,600 pounds of food.
· Garden to Table had 906 households gardening in the 2022 season, the most it's ever had! At the end of the season, 44 raised beds were built in order to expand gardening space for the 2023 gardens, allowing even people facing food insecuirty across Dakota County to grow their own fresh produce!
· The Mobile Lunchbox Program provided roughly 26,000 meals and snackpacks, from May-September, to kids throughout 26 Dakota County neighborhoods where the absence of that daily school lunch was hitting the hardest.
