A gift of any size is welcome!  The Northeast Orchestra is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation, and your contribution is tax deductible to the extent allowed by law.  Your contribution helps us continue to provide free concerts to the community.

The Northeast Orchestra was founded in 1972 and consists of musicians who play for their own enjoyment. There are not many orchestral groups located in Anoka County. People who say they once played instruments and might start playing again frequently approach us at concerts; we encourage them and, if appropriate, give them information about community orchestras and bands.

We rehearse Friday mornings, and consequently our membership is mainly at or near retirement age. We also have younger players who have arranged their employment (and even home schooling) to be with us. We play four concerts a year in the Fridley/Columbia Heights area, usually in November, February, March and May.  Find details on our website.

Dr. Jeffrey Stirling has been serving as music director of the Northeast Orchestra since 2002. Dr. Stirling is also the music director of the Saint Paul Civic Symphony, the Minnetonka Symphony Orchestra, and the First Unitarian Orchestra in Minneapolis.  He has been a guest conductor with the Minnesota Orchestra and the Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra, and has also directed orchestra programs at the University of Minnesota, St. Cloud State University, Luther College, Gustavus Adolphus College, and Colby College.  Dr. Stirling studied at Yale, Northwestern University and the Paris Conservatory.
