The Friends of Wood Lake (FOWL) is the fundraising arm of the Wood Lake Nature Center!
The nature center is 53 years old and serves the City of Richfield and the surrounding region. We have visitors come to walk the trails, attend a program, participate in a field trip, and to photograph the wildlife and habitats.
The park is comprised of a marsh, lowland forest, and a restored prairie and oak savanna - all tucked into a 150 acre green space between I-35W and Lyndale Avenue. We have lots of wildlife including coyotes, white-tailed deer, squirrels, raccoons, and many bird species from wild turkey and bald eagles to ruby crowned kinglets.
The funds FOWL raises are used to support additional staffing during the school year, natural resource management projects, and other large projects our regular budget are not set up for.
In the late winter of 2025 we will remove our current building and start construction on a new Wood Lake Nature Center building.
Thank you for supporting Wood Lake in its first year participating in Give to the Max Day!
